In the 1910 census, Lorenzo de Jesus' birth was listed as 1874, as a mulato, in 1920 it was documented as 1875 and listed as white, and in 1930, listed as black. Over these 30 years, he worked on a finca de azucar, a cow farm, and as a builder. His father, Leonardo, was 34 and his mother, Catalina, was 24 when Lorenzo was born. He married Adaminia Cruz y Figueroa in 1902; she was 18 years old. She was listed as Blanco in all three censuses. They had a total of 14 children, 11 live births, five sons and six daughters, two died before reaching 10 years old. He died in 1950 in Carolina, Puerto Rico, at the age of 68.
