Anselmo De Jesus Y Guadalupe was born on April 21, 1888, in Puerto Rico. His father, Leonardo, was 40, and his mother, Catalina, was 30. He married Maria Lorenza Canales Y Fabres on December 16, 1916, in Carolina, Puerto Rico. They had four children in 14 years. He died on January 4, 1979, at the age of 90. Based on the 1920 US Census, Anselmo De Jesus, a 31-year-old mulatto man, was the head of a household in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He lived on Calle Narciso Font with his wife, Maria Canales Y Fabre, who was 34 years old. Anselmo was born around 1889 in Puerto Rico. Although he was unable to speak English and couldn’t write, he worked as a laborer in a finca de Cana. Anselmo was not just an employee; he was an employer, indicating a level of success in his occupation.
